Identity and Access Management

Identity and Access Management

Identity and access management (IAM) is the security domain that allows the appropriate people the correct level of access to the appropriate resources, at the appropriate times, for the appropriate reasons. In a business context, individual network entities (people and devices) have roles and access rights to a range of cloud and on-premises services, and IAM is about creating and managing those roles and privileges.

The primary objective of IAM is to provide each person or device with a unique digital identity that lasts, albeit in a potentially modified state, and is monitored throughout the users or device’s access lifespan.
